- Residential Gateway:
- Is a home networking device (a router) used to connect computers in the home to the Internet or other Wide Area Network (WAN).
- Rootkit:
- This term is used to describe the mechanisms and techniques whereby malware,
viruses, spyware and Trojan horses, attempt to hide their presence from
spyware blockers, antivirus and system management utilities.
There are several classifications:
Persistent Rootkits:Active each time the system boots.
The code must be stored in a persistent store.
(Registry or file).Memory based Rootkits:No persistent code, does not survive a re-boot.
User-Mode Rootkits:May intercept calls to Windows, find API files
and remove entries.Kernel-Mode Rootkits:They can manipulate kernel mode data
structures, such as removing its presence from
the list of processes, so as not to be displayed
in process management tools like
Task Manager, Process Explorer and
Software Explorer (part of Defender).
- Router:
- Is a computer type device used to forward data between computers and their networks.
- RSSI: (Received Signal strength Indication)
- RSSI is a measurement of received radio strength, in a wireless environment, in arbitrary units.
